About Northern University of Theology & Apostolic Leadership

Accreditation

Committed to Excellence. Guided by Faith.

Northern University of Theology and Apostolic Leadership is legally incorporated in the State of New Jersey as a nonprofit religious institution of higher education. We are currently pursuing accreditation through the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) Commission on Accreditation, one of the most respected faith-based accrediting bodies in North America.

About the ABHE Commission on Accreditation

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation is a nationally recognized, faith-related accrediting agency dedicated to advancing excellence and accountability among institutions of biblical higher education. Their mission is to ensure quality, integrity, and continuous improvement across institutions that prepare students for Christian ministry, theological scholarship, and leadership in church and society.

  • ABHE is a non-profit, non-governmental organization.
  • Participation in ABHE’s accreditation process is voluntary and peer-reviewed, reflecting the commitment of each institution to uphold high standards in biblical education.

National Recognition

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation is recognized by:

  • The U.S. Department of Education (USDE) as a national, specialized institutional accrediting agency for the purpose of federal financial aid eligibility.

  • The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for its rigorous academic and faith-based standards across undergraduate and graduate levels.

Scope of U.S. Department of Education Recognition:
Includes accreditation and candidate (pre-accreditation) status for institutions offering undergraduate certificates, associate, bachelor’s, graduate certificates, and master’s degrees, including distance education programs.

 Scope of CHEA Recognition:
Extends to institutions in the U.S., Canada, and affiliated territories that offer certificates through graduate-level degrees in biblical, church-vocational, and general studies for Christian ministries.

Note: While ABHE's recognition by CHEA includes doctoral programs, the scope of recognition by the U.S. Department of Education currently excludes doctoral degrees.

Our Commitment

As a university pursuing ABHE accreditation, Northern University of Theology and Apostolic Leadership affirms its dedication to:

  • Academic integrity and theological excellence
  • Faith-based institutional accountability
  • Compliance with all applicable federal and state education regulations
  • Quality assurance in online learning and ministerial training

We believe accreditation is not just a credential—it is a covenant of trust between our institution, our students, and the global Church.
